Day 28 - Sateurs and Night Survey

Yesterday was Poppy’s last day, we waited at the house until 1pm to see her off. My jobs for the day were packing the kit bags and cleaning the house so I did both in the morning. Once we waved poppy off Tom, Marina, Helen, Rachael, Kirsten and I headed to Rose Hill to catch the bus to Sateurs. We visited Leapers hill, some supermarkets and veg markets and went down to the pier. Tom and I went for a swim off the pier while the others watched and some local kids joined us. Afterwards we went to a beach bar called Crab Hole, Tom and Rachael had beer while we chatted to some of the locals. We then got the bus back.

Steph and Kirsten were on cooking. Steph made a potato and pumpkin dauphinoise, battered and baked aubergine slices and a peanut satay sauce and salad. It was very yummy! Helen, Marina, Tom, Steve and I were on Night Survey. Helen and Marina went with Tom on the first run and I went on the second with Steve. The others saw one attempted nest and I saw a few hatches. In the morning Steve and I measured the nests distances.
