Middle Camp – Seasonal South East Monitoring
The first week of August marked our second seasonal monitoring camp of the south east monitoring season. Myself, William (Aldabra Science Coordinator), Rona (Assistant Aldabra Science Coordinator), Clarisha (Ranger), Angela (Trainee Ranger) and Norisha (Health and Safety Assistant) were dropped off at Middle Camp (Malabar) early morning on the 1st August – leaving Picard at around 7am and arriving at MC at around 8am. Usually William Skippers the boat (Frigate) and we keep it with us for the duration of the camp, but there have been some issues with the boat engines recently and Frigate was out of commission having work done on the engine for most of the week. The decision was made that Frigate would be trialled back in the water again with Zegret (our other small boat) also making the journey as back up support.
