Day 29 - Excavation and Games Night

On the 14th I finished my book and begun the 2nd again. I had a chilled morning reading and then at half 2 Rachael, Steph, Tom, Kirsten and I headed too Levera for Excavation. We measured out 8 nests and I was digging was digging the first with Kirsten while Tom and Rachael worked together and Steph dug on her own. Steph  had found one nest and the rest of us were still trying to find ours when the Heavens opened and it poured with rain. We persevered for a bit before abandoning our nests and just focusing on the one we found, counting the eggs and what was inside the unhatched eggs. When we had finished that the rain seemed to be chucking down harder than ever, we were all soaked through, underwear and all. Might as well have gone swimming in the sea fully clothed! We all quickly filled in our unsuccessful attempts to find our nests and made our way back to the car through the canopy at the back of the beach, all soaked through, still pouring with rain and covered in wet sand. When we arrived back Marina and Helen were starting to cook whilst we dried off. 

For dinner they made a German dish called something like kanodle? I’m not sure but it was balls of mash potato filled with bread inside and a kind of vegetable stew to go on top with a side salad. A very interesting and yummy meal. The rain was still pouring with no sign of slowing down and so Kate decided to cancel night survey so for the first time this season everyone had a evening off together. Kester took some hatchlings to be released to the beach and Kate came to the house to join the rest of us for games nigh. We played a card game called something like wisk, I can’t remember the name but it was a tournament with 12 rounds. Kirsten won and I came second 😊. We then played a few rounds of a game called Werewolf which sounded like wink murder to me but it was a narrated game where Helen gave us cards with roles written on them, seer, witch, werewolf, girl, knight,Cupid and then she’d tell certain people to wake and when the werewolf’s woke they had to pick someone to kill and then when everyone woke the person was killed and the people left had to decide who to kill and they were trying to guess and kill the werewolfs ? Bit hard to explain without explaining all the rules. But after that we headed to bed.
