Day 27 - St George’s and Grand Anse Beach
Today Poppy and I got a lift into Sateurs as Kate and Kester were doing the food shop. We got a bus from Sateurs to St George which is right down south, where the airport is and a more touristy area. It took a couple of hours to get there. Once we arrived we looked around the shops and did some souvenir shopping.
We then got a bus to Grand Anse beach which is the big and touristy beach on the island. The bus ride there was awful, we were only on it for 5 minutes but the music was so loud and tinny I had a headache almost instantly. The sand was super soft and white but we only got to enjoy it for about 10 minutes, we waded knee deep in the sea and were about to chill on the beach when the grey clouds begun to rain. We vacated to the restaurant called Umbrellas that was behind us where people from Teach Grenada to Swim week were holding an end of week celebration event for the kids of all the swim clubs around Grenada. Poppy and I both got a drink and I had some cheesy chips. I had a plaintain punch which was Rum, Lemon, Pineapple and Cherry. Poppy had a purple rain. Talitha and her sister came and met us for a while, they’re staying with their brother and parents at a hotel on the beach so it was nice to see her. By this point the weather was even worse and there was major thunder and lightening right over head. It was also the heaviest rain they’ve had all year. Poppy and I spotted Dave and Linda from Bathway Swim Club and they were able to give us a lift back to The house after. It was a shame the weather was so bad but it was nice to see the beach anyway.
Once we arrived back it was dinner time, Tom had made veg curry with rice and flat breads which was yummy, and I helped him wash up after. After dinner we fought a war with blister bugs and played Bananagrams before bed.
