Greece Day 28 - Last Day off - Aegina!

Today Adam and I had a really fun day off. We took a day trip to the Island Aegina which was a 40 min trip on the flying Dolphin boat.

We started the day by attempting to get the bus to Pireaus Port but the bus driver ignored our hail so we got a taxi instead. We then got the boat over to Aegina. It was like an aeroplane inside! Once we were over on the island we hired a Quad bike for Adam to drive us around to see all the sites. We drove past the Temple of Apollo as it was closed today but we could see it from the road anyway, we then took the scenic coastal road to the Temple of Aphaia. It was a really nice ruin to visit and much quieter than the Acropolis! We looked around for a while before Adam drove us to Agia Marina beach where we had Pizza and Cheesy chips for lunch before going for a swim in the sea. The water was crystal clear and we could see lots of little fish.

After spending about an hour at the beach we headed to the Monastery of Agios Nektarios and admired it from outside as we both had shorts on but it was a beautiful building. We then headed back towards to port and went for a drive along the coast again before taking the bike back and having a walk around the Harbour town and eating Pistachio Ice Cream as Aegina is apparently famous for its Pistachios.

At 17:05 the Flying Dolphin arrived to pick us up again for our journey back to the Main land. We then got the bus back to the appartment before heading back out to get food at Pita bar. I had a chicken leg souvlaki stick and Adam had a Pork Gyros Pita wrap.

It was a really lovely day, the Island was beautiful and the views were amazing. It was a quite hilly island with lots of trees and very blue waters around the coastline. Most people were driving around on scooters and motorbikes and there were very few cars on the roads, our quad bike was quite loud though!

Most of the photos are still on my camera but here are some from our phones;
