Greece Day 10

This morning Adam and I got up and set up the Chlorine Tank and put away dry towels/started washing more whilst Flo took tank temperatures and noted behaviours. Makayla left this morning to go back to Canada and took Mushroom (cat) with her so we all said our goodbyes as we scrubbed tanks and turtles. Adam and I paired up and I scrubbed Polykasti's tank whilst Adam cleaned her and did her treatment for her head which included cleaning the wound with Dil.Bet and blue antisceptic spray applied using cotton buds. We then cleaned Paris and swapped over, so I scrubber her Carapace and Adam cleaned the tank. I then helped with preparing the feeding, cutting up the fish and starting the feeding rounds, some turtles that eat well are just chuck in which mean we can throw the fish into their tanks and they will dive and eat, others that don't eat are hand feeds. We cut one peice and offer it to them with forceps for 5 minutes, we try them 3 times each an hour apart and on the 3rd attempt we leave it in the tank and collect up all uneaten fish at the end of the day. Some of the smaller turtles like Hope and Vicky are Hand feeds with a certain weight of fish and they don't always eat all of it so we note how many peices we manage to feed them at each attempt. Lots of the turtles needed drips and injections today and a few tube feeds. The two big tanks that were cleaned were Odesius and Christos. We finished pretty early but I helped Niels shut up the shop, count the stock and fill out the duty sheet before helping Adam finish the feeding round and drying more towels. For dinner we made Pitta Pizza with olives, Gouda, Mozzarella, peppers and salami which was very yummy.
