Day 15 - Relax

Once we got back from the night survey I had a shower but was too awake to try and sleep anymore so I stayed up and read my book. Nearly at the end of book 6 now. I spent the day reading, writing up notes in my field notebook and writing up data tables. It was nice to just chill and catch up on some note making I needed to do. I’m now up to date with my data and have a few extra drawn out. I didn’t leave the house or do much else.

It was my job to cook dinner today/ I was planning on making egg fried rice as we’d had loads of eggs all week but everyone seemed to use them all today for omelettes and boiled eggs and baking brownies and there were none left! But Tom went and got some in the evening just before I cooked so I didn’t have to change my plan. Poppy, Talitha, Kate and Kester went to do an Excavation while Mandy made brownies before I started on dinner. Steph helped me prepare the veg and then left me to it. I made egg fried rice with shredded carrots, chopped green beans and sesame seeds in soy sauce with cumin, pepper, coriander and salt. I then boiled potatoes and carrots and made a tomato, turmeric, cumin, sweet onion and chilli sauce which I stirred into the potatoes. The final side was aubergine, bell peppers and sesame seeds stir fried in soy sauce. I was actually quite proud of it when I was finished. Everyone loved it and had seconds and thirds so I was very happy with myself this evening 🙂 I have to say, it was rather scrummy 😊. Mandy cut us all a slice of her brownies which were gluten free for Talitha. She made them using mashed Kidney beans, eggs, butter, cocoa powder, chocolate chunks, vanilla essence, baking soda and sugar! You’d have never have known there were Kidney beans instead of flour! They were fluffy and gooey and delicious.  This evening I’m going to read some more, maybe play some cards with the others and write some more in my notebook before heading to bed nice and early. Poppy and I are just about to make some Cocoa tea ☕️
