Week 4 FSC Millport

This week we have been busy getting the Aquarium ready to put animals in. The tanks were emptied before christmas and over winter and will be being reopened this month to the public.

On Monday I helped Jenny Prep Equipment for Cork Uni who arrived on the 1st March. The rest of the day was spent spihoning tanks of the freshwater and filling with sea water/arranging gravel and rocks in the tanks. Rosie and I designed the Pier tank whilst Luke and Beth designed the Open ocean tank. We all helped deisgn and fill the Hermit Crab tank.

Tuesday was Pancake day so after work we had sweet and savory pancakes for dinner :)

The rest of the week was a lot of aquarium stuff and helping reorganise the Library again. On Thursday we went and collected some sand and rocks for the sand tank from Kames Bay.

Friday was my day off, I went to Largs in the afternoon to have an explore and food shop and Adam drove down in the evening. We got the ferry over at 19:15 and made a really yummy stir fry for dinner!

On Saturday Luke, Adam and I went to Lochwinnoch for a walk, we took the 10:30 ferry over and Adam drove us there. We then went for a walk around the Loch and Castle Semple Temple. The weather was really nice and we had a really nice walk. We got back to Largs at 14:20 and just missed the 14:15 Ferry so we decided to get chips for lunch but whilst we were waiting for the next ferry the weather turned and the ferries were suspended until 17:00. Then at 17:00 the ferries were suspended until 19:00, and then at 19:00 were cancelled for the rest of the day... We had been waiting 4 hours and then found out we were stuck for the night so Luke went and stayed at Rhona's flat and Adam and I went back to his place at Loch Lomond.

On Sunday Morning we had to get up really early to make sure we made it back in time to get the first ferry over. We left Adams at 6 and got to Largs at 7:45. I started work at 8:30 while Adam stayed at my flat for the day. I was shadowing Jenny on Lab cover as Cork Uni arrived so we made sure all the relevent equipment was in their lab and welcomed them to the centre. I spent most of the day emailing and organising the summer Bioblitz. Adam decided to stay the night and left early Monday Morning.
