FSC Millport - Week 15 & 16

The past two weeks have gone by quite quickly!

I have been helping Luke with his Data collection for his Dissertation. As he can't use the boat to drag his net collecting microplastics anymore he was trialing two different methods. One where we cycled to the shore and dragged nets ourselves by walking knee depth in the water and the other suspending the net from the Pier.

When we pulled up the net from the Pier we weren't expecting what we found!... Loads of Jellyfish! Comb Jellies, Sea Gooseberries, Lions Mane Jellyfish, Compass Jellyfish and Moon Jellyfish! So many of them!

We have contiued weeding whilst the weather has been nice and have finished off the weather trees in the Allen building whilst the weather hasn't. The weather trees are painted onto the wall with each branch representing a month and each leaf representing the average temperature of the day (365 leaves on each tree).

Last weekend Luke let Rosie and I cut his hair with Duncan's Clippers and some kitchen scissors which was fun but also didn't turn out too bad!

I did some deep cleaning of the flat and made Pancakes with a new recipe that one of the chefs from the centre gave us.

I also baked some different cookies and cinnamon shortbreads.

This week I also wrote an article for a Marine Biology blog about my experience in Greece last October which you can check out here: https://marinemadness.blog/2020/05/20/healing-with-honey-my-time-working-at-the-glyfada-archelon-sea-turtle-rescue-centre/

This weekend the weather was really windy and rainy but Rosie and I managed to go for a walk to watch Gannets Diving realllyyyy close to the rocks near us! It was so cool to see them diving so close to us!
