Arrived in Scotland!

On Thursday Mother, Father and I arrived in Glasgow at around 10pm. We headed to our hotel which was on a leisure park with a cinema, restaurants and bowling alley.

Friday was my Birthday :) We left the Hotel about 9am, went to costa for a morning drink and then got a taxi into Glasgow where we spent the day on a red bus tour of the City. I really enjoyed the tour and I thought Glasgow was a really nice city. We stopped off at the CrabShakk for lunch where we had some yummy seafood before walking to the KelvinGrove Art Gallery and Museum. We looked around for a while, there was a large section on wildlife with taxidermy animals and quite a lot of coastal organism information. We then got back on the bus tour and followed it back round until we were at a stop close enough to walk back to the hotel.
Adam drove down from Loch Lomond and met us outside the cinema and we went to Creams for Waffles and Crepes for dinner. I had a waffle with lotus spread, melted chocolate, Kinder Bueno peices, melted chocolate shavings and cookie dough ice cream! Very yummy and very filling! After the food we went and had a lay down to digest all the sweetness before going to the Odeon Luxe to watch Bad Boys for Life in the iSense recliner screen. The chairs were really fancy leather recliner sofas, super comfy! We said goodbye to Adam and then headed to bed. A very good birthday 😀

On Saturday morning we packed up our things and got a taxi to Glasgow Central Station. It took us an hour and 20 mins to get the train from Glasgow to Largs. We stopped off at Morrisons to get some supplies and then got the ferry over to Cumbrae which is where I will be based. A bus meets the ferry as it arrives so we hopped on and got off at the field centre, greeted by one of the other placement students Beth who is a Marine Biology Student at Exeter. There are two other placement students, Rosie also at Exeter Studying Environmental Science and Luke from Plymouth Uni Studying Geography. We were shown to my flat and the accomodation on site, I am sharing my flat with 2 others who work at the centre, I have my own room and shared bathroom, kitchen and living space. We dropped off our bags and walked to Millport town to have lunch in a cafe before having a walk back to unpack. We even visited the crocodile rock! As we got back the fire alarm for the building started going off and there was only us and Luke there. There was no fire but the key for the alarm box seems to be missing so we couldnt turn it off, it was going off for nearly an hour before an electrician came and managed to reset it! We then unpacked my stuff in my room and headed to the accomodation on site where we had rolls for tea and watched a film. The island is beautiful and I'm really excited to start!

Today we got up and had breakfast at the centre before heading to my flat and depositing the suitcase before going for a walk. The weather wasn't great so we walked just past the town and walked back round the houses for a different view. We then got the ferry to Largs where we had fish and chips for lunch (I even tried a deep fried mars bar), did a spot of last minute shopping for me and then I said goodbye to my mum and dad. I got the ferry and bus back to the centre and have been chilling in my room. I'll meet everyone I'm going to be working with tomorrow which I'm looking forward too.
