Week 2 FSC Millport
Climbing ratification was cancelled due to the weather so its been rescheduled for Wednesday.
This week I carried on going through my induction pack - online Safeguarding training, GDPR training and intranet tasks.
On Monday Rosie and I went out to carry out a WeBs Survey of wetland birds on the island from the Cumbrae ferrry slip towards the centre. The weather was not looking good, Jenny drove us to the ferry slip and we walked back to the centre counting and identifying the wetland birds on the way whilst it hailed and rained quite heavily! We saw lots of Oyster Catchers, lapwings, herring gulls, herons and some cormorants, curlew and rock pipits as well.
I also had my week 1 review session which went well and spent a few afternoons in the Library helping to reorganise the books.
On Tuesday the centre filmed a Pirates of Cumbrae video where we all had to have a scene which was a very funny day, everyone dressed as pirates from makeshift costumes we made in the morning. You can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBGG30lXAK4
On Thursday Rosie, Luke, Beth and I tested Christina's oreinteering trail around Farland Point which was a fun afternoon, we also did a mini beach clean on our way round.
This weekend Adam came to visit, he arrived on Friday night. We were going to go to the Pub with Rosie, Luke, Beth and Cory on Saturday but the ferry was cancelled due to the weather so Luke, Rosie, Adam and I went and ordered Pizza on Island and watched films in the evening instead. On Sunday Luke, Adam and I went to Largs to do a food shop and got stuck for 4 hours because the ferry was suspended. We had lunch in the pub and then managed to get back on the island but Adam didn't manage to make it back to the mainland that evening so had to leave early Monday morning on the early 7am ferry! Adam and I drove around the island in the morning on sunday which was really nice so we got to see all the coast and it was actually really sunny just very windy.
